Conan Exiles Server Rules

Post has published by Doctros

“Map Wipe Notice”:   This game server wipes every 3 months on these dates:   Jan-3,   April-1,   July-1,   Oct-1.

Actual date (Dependent on holidays or other factors) will be posted on our “Conan Exiles” Discord channel 2 weeks before any wipe takes place.

*The only other exceptions to these wipes are forced wipes made by the developers for Major game updates. However, The dates above will always occur on schedule.

“Common Sense Server Rules”

These Rules Apply To Both Of Our Servers, “Exiled Lands” & “Isle Of Siptah”

Rules Date: 07-10-2023

NOTE:   These rules are subject to change depending on how the game Developers “FunCom” add or remove features to the game and by how issues arise on the game server. So check them often by “Date” for any updated changes.

You can also click “Here” to see our “Changelog” page to facilitate viewing recent changes and updates to our Server Rules.

I HATE RULES!!!

However, in running this server for over 4 years now, these rules were developed due to random unpleasant issues that have come up from time to time and also to keep the server running smooth, clear of map clutter and to be fair and neighborly to ALL the players.

To prevent issues or property / build loss or being banned from this server, PLEASE follow ALL of the server rules. If a rule is unclear PLEASE ask an Admin in chat or Discord to clarify any of the server rules. If you feel that you will have a hard time following these rules or do not agree with any of them, PLEASE save your time and effort and find another server that suits your needs.

If you do lose your build or are banned from our server, Please do not get upset at us.  “YOU” did not bother to take the time to read and follow these simple rules that everyone else has read, understands and follows. You agreed to them as you entered our server and clicked “OK” on our MOTD window.

Courtesy And Game Play:

This is a “PvE” (Player VS Environment) server NOT a “PvP” (Player VS Player) server. Only build homes or bases where you or your clan will live, occupy and use. This is NOT an experimental build server for building random builds you will not use or occupy. If you want to build huge experimental builds, play the single player version of the game.

1. Racism or bigotry of any kind will not be tolerated. (Everyone is welcome on our server). Do not use any offensive name for your character, clan or pets. Also, Do Not place down or post any  offensive signs in-game. This includes Politically charged names or signs because again, this only leads to differences of opinions and conflict. We are all here to enjoy the server and game, Not to represent or advertise personal views. Treat all players with Respect.

2. Do Not disrupt game play by Hacking, Arguing, Complaining, Trolling, Spamming, Advertising, Promoting or in general “Annoying other players”. Do Not discuss Religion or Politics. This only leads to conflict. Bad, Rude, Toxic or Malicious attitudes will not be tolerated in game or in our Discord channels!

3. When looting Game Generated Chests or Boxes, Please remove ALL items so new ones can respawn. Give away or throw away any items you don’t want or need.

4. When Thrall hunting, kill ALL knocked out Thralls you don’t need so new Thralls can respawn. Anyone found leaving knocked out Thralls repeatedly will be banned.

In-Game Building Decay System:

4. This server has “Building Decay” activated. The “Building Decay” system is an automatic timer that removes builds from players that build something and never come back to the server. This is used to prevent building clutter and to ensure that new players that come into our server find nice open areas to build. There are 2 phases to the decay system. These will be detailed below.

When building, use a “Repair Hammer” to see how much time your build has before it goes in to the “first phase of decay”. Depending on the size of your build this will also determine the decay timer. (Tiny Build = Tiny Amount Of Time Before Decay ~ Small Build = Small Amount Of Time Before Decay ~ Medium Build = More Time On the Decay Timer and so on…).

The MAX decay time any build will reach is “360 hours” which is “14 days”. Actual decay “second phase of decay” on any build starts after the “14 days” of you or a clan member not logging into the game and being present at that build. “360 hours” / “14 days” is the MAX time setting this game allows.

As soon as you or a clan member logs into the server and goes into any build you own or a build your clan mate owns it will reset the decay timer for another “14 days”. This will only reset the timer on the build you are at. So if you have multiple builds you must actually go to each one of them to reset the timer on them. Again you must use your “Repair Hammer” to view the builds decay time.  (So if you are going on a vacation or will be “AFK” for over 14 days, Ask a in-game clan mate to visit your build to reset the decay timer for you).

Builds that are found to be in “second phase of decay”, actual “Red Decay Status” (over 14 days) still last for about “4” more days before they totally vanish from the server, but in this second phase the build can be removed by ANY player in the server with a “Repair Hammer”.

Also, when Admins find these builds in actual “Red Decay Status”it is safe to say that the player that built it has not been actively playing in our server for the past 14+ days and that the build has been abandoned. So they are removed to free up land for more dedicated and active players.

The “Purge” ~ Building Damage & Maintenance:

5. This server has has “The Purge” activated. If your build was damaged due to a purge and it has parts missing like Walls, Doors, Roof Sections or Foundations you have 7 (Seven) full days from the time it is noticed by any of our server Administrators to make any repairs needed to get your build whole again. If your build has not been repaired past this 7 day period it will be considered unwanted, abandoned and removed.

Thrall Amount & Limitations On Our Server:

6. We have decided to set a all across the board amount for Thralls each player can own. This only affects Fighters/Archers/Dancers/Bearers/Pets/Horses/Zombies. The limit is set to “20 (Twenty)” per player, Solo or in a Clan. This limit does not mean that you need to have 20, Just own the amount you need. This Thrall limit does NOT apply to any thralls that are placed in anything like Benches or Temples.

NOTE:   When placing Pets or Thralls to guard your build “Do Not” place them where Thralls or other Animals spawn. This creates constant fighting as they spawn and this causes high server resource use and server lag. Keep Thralls and Pets close and near your build. Do Not use them to protect resource spawn areas or to guard areas away from your build. Also, any areas that have overwhelming amounts of Thralls Fighters, Archers, Dancers, Bearers, Pets and Horses ALL will be instantly removed. Use Common Sense!

General Building:

NOTE:   Please see attached map at the bottom of this page for areas where building is Not Allowed “In Red” (To be safe, and for peace of mind, build at least 5 (Five) blocks away from the border of a “Red” No Build zone. Building too close and pushing the boundaries could result in your build being removed).

Also, there is “Block Distance Reference” area located in “G-6” on the game map marked in “Green”. this area is to help you gauge block distances without you having to make, place or waste your own resources and foundation blocks to calculate distances. When at the “Block Distance Reference” area place your back on the sign and walk the distance counting your steps. This will tell you how many steps it takes for that distance.

7. Keep your build size in mind. Small, Medium or Large builds or Clan Bases are fine. However, Do Not overbuild! Don’t Be A ” Land Hog” This only prevents other players from building in certain areas of the map. Overbuilds, Huge or Experimental builds will be removed. If you need to ask about build size limitations, Then you’re probably thinking of building too big. When building think of a nice home or base, like in a town or village style, Not a Kingdom or Empire. Again, this is because we are NOT a PvP server!

8. Huge “Land Hog builds” are Not Allowed and will be removed. This is NOT an experimental build server. If you want to build huge experimental builds, play the single player version of the game. Build only structures that you will use and live in. All builds found without a Bed/Bedroll that are not bound to an active player will be removed.

NOTE:  Max main build footprint allowed is “20 x 20”  foundation blocks. If you are planning on placing a Fence, Walls or Barricades around your build, The main build must still not exceed “20 x 20” foundation blocks however, you are allowed an extra “5” foundation block distance from the outer radius exterior walls of your build so you can place your Fence, Walls or Barricades. Do Not block water sources, travel paths or any spawns. Do Not exceed the footprint max or risk losing your entire build! If you need further information, see image below or Seek an Admin for clarification before you build.

See examples below:

9. Please Do Not build “On” or “In” ANY Map Generated Building Structures. Any part of your build must not come in contact with any Buildings, Broken Building Parts, Walls, Floors, Ruins, Green Wall Generators, Alters, Bridges, Fallen Broken Bridge Parts, or Thrall Camp Structures of any kind.

10. Building in trees is allowed providing you follow the specifications below:

       A.  In non Jungle areas of the map, Tree building is allowed anywhere as long as it is only “1” (One) tree and you don’t link this tree with horizontal walkways or elevators to any other area  or location.

       B.  In non Jungle areas of the map, Only Vertical Elevators are allowed for any tree build to go from ground level to your build. Foundations, Stairs, or any other building parts are NOT allowed.

      C.  In the Jungle areas of the map, Tree building and linking trees with horizontal walkways or elevators are ONLY allowed in the Jungle areas of the map.

      D.  In the Jungle areas of the map, If you are a Solo player not in a Clan, you can only claim and build also link up to “2” (Two) trees MAX “Per Jungle Area”.

      E.  In the Jungle areas of the map, If you are in a Clan with other Clan members, You can claim and build also link up to “4” (Four) trees MAX “Per Jungle Area”.

      F.  In the Jungle areas of the map, If linking tree builds with horizontal walkways or elevators make sure you only do this in the vicinity of your build. Do Not link tree builds too far or all the way across the jungle because this now becomes a “Skyway” which are not allowed on our servers. “See Rule # 25“.

NOTE:   Make sure you are not preventing any Resources/Animals/Thralls/Bosses from spawning. Any builds found violating the above specifications will be entirely removed.

11. “Tower Style” builds and “Any” other style of builds must not exceed “20” (Twenty) floors/blocks from the ground it stands on. This includes any Foundations, Stairs,Pillars and Ceiling/Floor Tiles, that the build sits on.

12. Vertical elevators are the only things that are excluded from the “20” (Twenty) floors rule providing that they are not enclosed, are public and are near your base or build. Side by side vertical elevators are fine (One Up & One Down). However, do not tether “2” (Two) elevators to extend the vertical height or horizontal length. Also, Do Not place any elevators randomly away from your build just to get over any Obstacles, Mountains, Cliffs or to access Thrall or Boss areas.

13. Do Not build directly above or in front of any caves or cave entrances. The build land claim zone not only effects the radius around it but it also effects what is above in the sky and below through the ground. This will prevent resources and creatures from spawning in that cave properly.

NOTE:   If building near any cave entrance ensure that you are at least “20” (Twenty) Foundation Blocks away from the main cave entrance. Anything closer to the cave entrance will be removed!

14. Please Do Not build or place items where they will prevent the proper spawning of NPC’s, World Bosses, Thralls, Thrall Camps or any other Animals or Creatures. This also applies to any player needed gatherable resources. This includes “Egg Nests” in the south around the main Noob lake and other nest areas around the map. New players depend on these eggs for food.  Any build or item placed that is preventing anything from spawning will be removed.

15. When building, at least take the time to finish your build. Even if it is small you can always expand or add to it a later time. Ensure your build has all walls, a complete roof system (Unless you like the open air design) and doors. Any half built structures or buildings that are not finished will be considered abandoned and removed.

16. Any finished or unfinished builds that are found with no Bed/Bedroll within them or with a Bed/Bedroll that is not bound to any active player will be considered “Not Lived In” or “Not Claimed” and will be removed.

NOTE:   In order to properly claim your build, all Beds/Bedrolls must be “Inside” the build. Having them outside or around your build does not count and will result in the removal of the build.

17. Please Do Not Randomly place items like Pets, Thralls, Temples, Alters, Work Benches, Wheels, Pet Pens, Stables, Wells, Trebuchet, Furnaces, Tanneries, Map Rooms, Boxes, Vaults, Decorations, Torches, Campfires, Beds or Bedrolls, Foundation Blocks, Stairs, Pillars, Ceiling/Floor Tiles, Elevators, Traps, Transportory or Sacrificial Stones and such around the map or near resources or spawn areas. These items should be placed in or closely around your home or land radius. If random items like this are found too far from your build they will be removed.

18. Please Do Not enclose whole islands or large areas of the map with Fences, Walls or Barricades. This prevents others from resources and land. It also causes players to have to go totally out of their way to access certain areas of the map. If you are planning on enclosing your build with walls or fences to prevent purge damage to your main build, Do Not exceed a “20 x 20” main build foot print with a MAX of a “25 x 25” enclosure area. Also, ensure that you are not blocking any spawns and travel paths.

19. Please Do Not build on or block map travel paths, valley ways, walk ways, waterways, waterfalls, lakes, rivers, canals or passage ways thru caves. Build beside them not on top of them or blocking them. If you build over or enclose a path or valley, even if you leave a doorway or opening for access this still creates an obstacle players need to deal with when they need quick access past it. This includes rock formations that allow path ways from one area to another.

See examples below:

20. Do Not block, build on or build near areas that contain any type of Game Lore, Talking Walls, Ghost Thralls, Interactive Thralls, Game Secrets, Points of Interest or areas that are “Named” locations. Any part of your build must be at least “20” (Twenty) blocks away from these.

21. Building entirely in a body of water is not allowed and the entire build will be removed when found. Build beside the shore line not on top of the water. When building along the shore of a large Lake or Pond do not build more than “4” (Four) blocks into the water from the shore water line. This also applies to any items like Alters, Animal Pet Pens, Benches, Furnaces, Trebuchet, Map Rooms, Water Wells, Horse Stables, Transportory Stones, Sacrificial Stones and such. Keep these items off the water!

NOTE:  Frozen solid ice is considered land not water, like in some areas north of “The Great Dam”. The edges of the frozen ice that are liquid are considered water so the “building in water rules” below apply.

See examples below:

22. When building along the shore of any Inland Lakes, Small Lakes, Ponds, Rivers or Canals an overlap of “1” (One) block in water is fine. However, if more than that is found in the water, the entire build will be removed! This also applies to any items like Alters, Animal Pet Pens, Benches, Furnaces, Trebuchet, Map Rooms, Water Wells, Horse Stables, Repair Circle Of Power, Transportory Stones, Sacrificial Stones and such. Keep these items off the water!

NOTE:   Bridges are not allowed in these areas “See Rule # 26 NOTE-2

See example below:

23. When placing fish or shellfish traps do not use more than “10” (Ten) “Total” per area of land claim, Per Clan or Individual not in a Clan. If more than 10 traps total are found, ALL will be removed. Also do not build any foundations below them which is considered building on water and is not allowed.

NOTE:   “10” (Ten) “Total” means: 5- fish traps + 5- shellfish traps = 10, or any other combination to equal “10”. Not “10” of each type of trap which would equal “20” and would be over the allowed limit.

24. If placing floor torches or any lighting outside your build be frugal. Place them to light your immediate area. Do Not torch spam the map all over the place! Too many will cause player and server lag and will be removed.

25. “SkyWays”, “SkyRoads” or “CatWalks” built with foundations, stairs, walls, floor tiles or multiple “Horizontal” attached elevators for creating long “Horizontal” pathways for travel are NOT allowed. Also, Do Not try to repair map generated broken bridges for that purpose.

NOTE-1:   However, If you are building a connecting elevated “PassageWay” of any kind from building to building you own within your own land claim, Make sure it is not over any water way and dose not exceed “10” (Ten) building blocks MAX to prevent a large land claim foot print.

NOTE-2:   Any part of a Build, Deck, Building or “PassageWay” built across any body of water or above water is considered a bridge. “See next Rule # 26. Multiple “Horizontal” attached elevators are considered “SkyWays” and are not allowed.

26. If building a bridge across water for travel “So you don’t have to swim”, build them “low profile” just above the water. No higher than “1/2” (One Half) block high from the water surface and No wider than “2” (Two) ceiling/floor tiles. Any bridges built must be accessible to all players for use. A minimal amount of Torches or small Braziers for lighting the bridge is fine. However, do not place any furniture of any kind on them. High Bridges, Unfinished Bridges or Locked Bridges will be removed. Also when building bridges use ceiling/floor tiles and pillars so players can swim under them when under water. Not just whole foundation blocks all the way down to the bottom. This creates a barricade in the water that you cannot swim under.

NOTE-1:   If you built your home on an entirely detached Island and would like a bridge to the main land, you can build “1” (One) bridge MAX. Look for the shortest distance to reduce super long bridges. Any bridges over the max or too far away from your main build will be removed.

NOTE-2:   Bridges are only allowed over larger bodies of water, Not across Waterfalls, Small Lakes, Ponds, Rivers, Canals or any other small or narrow bodies of water.

See example below:

27. Please Do Not place random foundation blocks, items or unnecessary buildings you will not use with the intent to block land or to create a bigger foot print around your property. Items like this will be removed along with your main build.

28. Please Do Not randomly place any kind of Elevators, Stairs, Platforms or Ramps away from your main build or land claim to travel over Hills, Cliffs, Mountains or to access Thrall Camps, Caves, Boss Areas or Map Generated Structures.

Thrall Wheel-Of-Pain:

29. Wheel-Of-Pain’s MUST be close within your home or bases radius! Please DO NOT place them just anywhere or stand-alone near Thrall camp areas. Also, keep any wheels off the water! Any Wheels found stand-alone or enclosed in builds near Thrall camp areas with the purpose of hacking this rule or to exceed the wheel limits stated below will be removed. Even temporary wheels if found will be removed. *See rule # 31 if building your home or base near Thrall camp areas.

30. To prevent Wheel-Of Pain clutter and a large area foot print, Any wheels placed are limited to:

1 (One) – Greater Wheel-Of-Pain “Only” Per Area, Per Clan or Individual not in a Clan.

=== Or ===

2 (Two) – Medium Wheel-Of-Pains “Only” Per Area, Per Clan or Individual not in a Clan.

=== Or ===

1 (One) Medium and 1 (One) Small Lesser Wheel-Of-Pains “Only” Per Area, Per Clan or Individual not in a Clan.

=== Or ===

3 (Three) – Small Lesser Wheel-Of-Pains “Only” Per Area, Per Clan or Individual not in a Clan.

NOTE:   If any other combinations are found ALL will be removed.

31. If building your home or base in the vicinity of a Thrall Camp or Thrall Area (So you are closer), Your build MUST follow these specifications:

      A.   A bedroll or bed MUST be in the build and bound to You or an Active Clan Member or Player. If the bedroll or bed is just placed there and not bound to anyone, It will be considered “Not Lived In” or “Abandoned” and removed.

      B.  The build MUST have at least “5” (Five) of these amenities to prove that it is lived in. Examples: Table, Chairs, Bed, Rugs, Lighting, Cooking Station, Small Well, Decorations etc… Not just an empty shack with a bedroll for the sole purpose of just placing a wheel.

      C.  Your wheel or wheels must be outside and visible and not enclosed inside a build because this makes it look like you are hiding it. If you build a flat roof you can place it there to protect it from “The Purge”. *** Again this rule only applies if you are near a Thrall Camp. If you are far away from a Thrall Camp, Wheels can be enclosed in any build.

      D.   Any portion of your build MUST be at least “This” far away from the “Building Is Not Allowed Here” radius notice from that thrall camp area:

D-10.   10 (Ten) Blocks Away – Small Thrall Camp Area – 1 to 2 Thralls.

D-20.   20 (Twenty) Blocks Away – Medium Thrall Camp Area – 3 to 4 Thralls.

D-50.   50 (Fifty) Blocks Away – Large Thrall Camp Area – 5 or more Thralls.

NOTE:   For those of you that can not estimate building block distances, A “Block Distance Reference” area in “G-6” has been built so you can go there to see or walk these example distances to gauge the measurements. Look on map provided at bottom of this page for the location of the reference area in “Green” Also, to view areas where building is not allowed “In Red”.

Animal Pet Pens, Trebuchet, Map Rooms, Water Wells, Horse Stables, Repair Circle Of Power, Transportory Stones & Sacrificial Stones:

32. Again, to prevent map clutter ALL of these items MUST be close within your home or bases radius! Please DO NOT place them just anywhere or stand-alone or to create a larger area foot print. Also, Keep all of these items off the water!

For Large Animal Pet Pen, Trebuchet, Map Room, Large Water Well, Repair Circle Of Power, Transportory Stone & Sacrificial Stone:

A.   1 (One) MAX  –  “Only” Per Area, Per Clan or Individual not in a Clan. “Transportory Stones” must be claimed by a player or clan. Any “Un-Named or No-Owner” Stones will be removed.

For Small Animal Pet Pens:

B.   2 (Two) MAX  –  “Only” Per Area, Per Clan or Individual not in a Clan. Either you place 1 – Large Animal Pen or 2 – Small Animal Pens. “These cannot be combined”.

For Horse Stables:

C.   2 (Two) MAX  –  “Only” Per Area, Per Clan or Individual not in a Clan.

NOTE:   Anything over these amounts, ALL these items will be removed.

Building In The “Volcano” Area:

33.  Due to the limited size of the Volcano area, building a home is allowed as long as the build does not exceed a height of 3 (Three) Blocks/Floors MAX and a  8 x 8 (Eight by Eight) MAX block footprint that does not block any pathways. Do Not build “On” or “In” any Map Generated Building Structures. Any part of your build must not come in contact with any Buildings, Broken Building Parts, Walls, Floors, Ruins, or Thrall Camp Structures of any kind.

NOTE-1:   Only “1” (One) Unenclosed Medium Wheel-Of-Pain, “1” (One) Small Water Well and “1” (One) Transportory Stone may be placed outside next to your build. Map Rooms, Temples, Alters, Work Benches, Pet Pens, Stables, Trebuchet, Furnaces, Tanneries, Vaults or Sacrificial Stones are not allowed.

NOTE-2:   Do Not build permanent bridges into or over the lava in the Volcano area. Only temporary bridges may be placed over lava in the volcano area while you are Adventuring, Resource Gathering or Capturing Thralls. Please remove temporary bridges when you are finished. Any bridges found by an Admin Temporary or Permanent will be removed when found because it is hard to determine how long they have been there. Any builds violating any of the above specifications will be promptly removed!

Building Near A “Obelisk” Area:

34.  Do Not build close to or near any Obelisk location. All builds must be at least 50″ (Fifty) Blocks Away from any Obelisks. Any builds closer than that will be removed.

Ships & Boats Building:

35.  Ships and Boats are allowed to be built and placed as long as they follow the specifications below:

       A.  They are only allowed in large bodies of water like large lakes. Example, main “Noob Lake” all the way into the “Jungle” area. Also the large lake north of “The Great Dam” ONLY! (Not in Small inland Ponds, Lakes, Rivers or Canals. This will just block the water way).

       B.  They must look like a Ship or Boat in shape. Not just a Square, Rectangular, Triangular or Circular shape platform placed in the water with the intent to hack “Rule # 21 – Building entirely in a body of water is not allowed”.

      C.  Max Ships/Boats size is: 25-Blocks Long  x  5-Blocks Wide  x  5-Blocks Tall (Above water surface line).  Blocks below water to support the Boat/Ship build do not count against the block height limit above water line. See diagram below.

      D.  Must not be connected in any way to any Building on land, Pier or to another Ship/Boat. (Build and use a ramp from the Ship/Boat into the water or shore line to enter and get on board).

      E.  To prevent Ship/Boat congestion, Map clutter and a large area foot print, Ships/Boats built are limited to:

E-1.    Only “1” (One) Ship/Boat “ per solo player not in a clan”.

E-2.   Only “2” (Two) Ships/Boats “per clan in separate water locations”. (Again, this is to avoid water way congestion and Map clutter).

NOTE:  If any of the specifications above are not followed, your Ship or Boat will be removed!
